Arkansas, Mississippi Locations Chosen as Part of Architects Foundation’s Continuing National Resilience Initiative
On April 25, a devastating earthquake struck Nepal, flattening densely populated areas surrounding Kathmandu. The latest Nepal Red Cross casualty report announced that more than 8,000 people perished and about twice as many were injured in the disaster – the worst to hit the Himalayan nation since 1934.
Ultimately, our goal is to deploy the power of architecture in rebuilding…working with our international architect counterparts. At the AIA and the Architects Foundation we’re interested in doing all we can to help Nepal’s earthquake recovery efforts.
The NEA will make a grant award to the Architects Foundation to support a forum on how architects and the AIA component network can influence the regulation of the built environment to improve public health.
