Meghana Tummala

Meghana Tummala is a dual master’s candidate in Architecture and Urban Design at Washington University in St. Louis, where she explores the intersection of both disciplines through research and teaching. Having grown up in Michigan and later living in Mexico, she is deeply inspired by landscapes shaped by water—an immersion that fundamentally guides her approach to sustainable, resilient architecture. Previously, as an architectural designer for Taller Capital in Mexico City, Meghana contributed to a multi-faceted baseball stadium, a flood-mitigating recreational park, and a social housing exhibition, experiences that solidified her commitment to cross-disciplinary collaboration and community-engaged design. Upon graduating with her B.S. in Architecture from the University of Michigan (UM) in 2023, she was awarded the Wallenberg Fellowship to independently investigate Mexico City’s complex relationship with water through an architectural lens. Funded by the 2025 UM Global Engagement Grant, she exhibited the fellowship work, which involved counter-mapping workshops with local communities, ultimately synthesizing her findings into an interactive story map website to amplify awareness of regional water challenges.
