Payette Sho-Ping Chin Memorial Academic Scholarship
Cornell University (M.Arch)
As I enter my third year of the M.Arch program at Cornell, I was certain that, by this point, I would have discovered the right path to pursuing a career in architecture. What I’ve actually found are more questions and opportunities than I was initially looking for. Where today’s issues of equality, health, safety, and well-being are concerned, architecture becomes my default mode of thinking. Up until now, I have been interested in conceptual applications of space and light in architecture.
Receiving the Payette Sho-Ping Chin Memorial Scholarship marks a turning point in my education and the trajectory of my career interests. With two summer internships behind me, I am looking ahead to focusing on technical aspects of architecture as they facilitate experience. The interscalar quality of architecture reminds me that design can exist everywhere and inspires me to use design to contribute to solutions for the future.
