The Jason Pettigrew Memorial ARE Scholarship
The Cooper Union (B.Arch)
Ofunne Mary-Ann Oganwu explores how architecture builds community, shapes culture, and holds memory. Born in Ibadan, Nigeria, Ofunne moved to the United Kingdom at a young age and grew-up in Hackney, East London. Her passion for architecture, the arts, and culture has led her to live and study further around the world.
Ofunne serves as an advisor in the AIA New York Civic Leadership Program. As a former participant in the program, Ofunne helped create a survey that was sent to AIA New York members, provoking discussion on civic engagement, equity, and political activism within practice. As an educator, Ofunne introduces young people in K-12 to architecture and design through hands-on making activities.
Ofunne was an Irma Giustino Weiss Cultural Enrichment Fellow whilst completing a five-year Bachelor of Architecture degree at The Cooper Union.
