Diversity Advancement Scholarship
University of Virginia
Hello, my name is Omer Gorashi. I am originally from Kosti, a small village in Sudan, but I have been living in Northen Virginia almost all my life. I have been interested in architecture for as long as I can remember, and my favorite architect is Moshe Safdie, the man behind Habitat 67. In my freetime, I enjoy reading, playing soccer, wrestling and volunteering with organizations such as Islamic Relief and ICNA. My passion for social justice and global affairs has driven me to research housing for refugees as I begin my undergraduate studies this upcoming academic year. Thank you so much for this opportunity, I hope to use this grant to the best of my abilities!
