Since beginning architecture school, I have been most intrigued by the ways in which architecture can strengthen a community and improve the well-being of those who are a part of it.”

My name is Shannar O’Connor and I am currently in my fourth year of architecture school with a minor in Studio Art at the University of Miami. I am heavily involved in extracurricular activities, such as Tau Sigma Delta Architecture Honor Society, the Foote Fellow Mentorship Program, and being a Student Ambassador for the University of Miami’s School of Architecture. Since beginning architecture school, I have been most intrigued by the ways in which architecture can strengthen a community and improve the well-being of those who are a part of it. Furthermore, I believe travel is an integral part of my architectural education; therefore, I am currently taking advantage of my university’s study abroad program in Rome, Italy. Travel has enriched my understanding of architecture by allowing me to learn, first hand, from thriving cities and the masterworks of influential architects. Also, throughout my exploration of new places and cultures, I developed a passion for interior architecture and industrial design, which I aim to offer as services in my future architectural firm.
