Vardhan Mehta is a recent graduate of Pratt Institute in New York, who currently works as an architectural designer at WEISS/MANFREDI Architecture/Landscape/Urbanism. Vardhan was born in Indore, a small town in central India. His design sensibility is inspired by his experiences of growing up – first in the rural setting of an emerging economy and then later in the capital of the world. He has been awarded the coveted Presidential merit scholarship five times in a row, among other travel and research grants. After completing his Masters of Architecture in Urban Design at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Vardhan aspires to gain work experience with governments around the world, in a planning and design capacity. He has also won three international design competitions in the past 4 years, based in France, China and Berlin. As a preacher, he enjoys theories about new models of tactical urbanism. As a practitioner, he’s involved with smart cities and other urban design initiatives in the emerging economies of South Asia. At rare times when he’s not in the studio, Vardhan enjoys cartography and scuba diving.
