Hidden History at The Octagon – A Historic Preservation Month Special

Join Amanda Ferrario, manager of The Octagon, for a special behind-the-scenes tour celebrating Historic Preservation Month. Guests will explore the building's distinctive architecture, learn about its layered history, and gain insight into the preservation efforts that protect its historic character for future generations. Included with ticketed admission. The tour highlights items and discoveries from past restorations and archaeological digs, offering a rare look at the evidence shaping our understanding of the house. A hands-on preservation discovery table invites visitors to examine historic building materials and interpretive objects, deepening the connection between research, stewardship, and the lived history of this remarkable site.

Accordion sensation Hanzhi Wang—winner of the Young Concert Artists International Auditions—brings fearless virtuosity and breathtaking artistry to The Octagon. From the sparkling brilliance of Rameau and the luminous lyricism of Mozart to Barber’s electrifying, jazz-infused Excursion, this dynamic program showcases the accordion in all its power, color, and surprise. At its heart is Wang’s own "Mountain Song," inspired by her pilgrimage to a sacred mountain in China’s Yunnan Province. Stay after for a wine reception and meet this extraordinary artist up close.
