Girmay Berhie was born and raised in Tigray, East Africa, where he earned his Bachler degree in Architecture and practiced Architecture for more than 18 years of his career. His professional career began at the city of Mekelle where he served as Architect planner, building permit official and manager of GIS and land information systems. He later practiced architecture in his own small firm from 2003 until 2012 when he migrated to United States as a student. He received his PhD degree at Texas Tech University, College of Architecture on August 13th, 2016, and Master of Architecture degree in December 2017. Since March 2018, Girmay is working as Architectural designer staff at Stevens and Wilkinson at Columbia, SC which later has been acquired by SSOE. Currently Girmay is pursuing Architectural licensure for the state of South Carolina and is halfway towards his ARE exams track. He is enthusiastic to learn and experience Architectural design technology and materials in Western setting as much as he had extensive experience in the other side of the planet.
