Architects Foundation has released its 2025 Impact Report, sharing the stories, milestones, and people behind a year of expanding opportunity, strengthening communities, and preserving places that matter.
Across the Foundation’s scholarships and fellowships, Communities by Design, and The Octagon, the report explores what happens when investment in design extends beyond individual projects and creates opportunities for people and communities to shape their own futures.
In 2025, Architects Foundation awarded more than $211,000 to 62 scholars and fellows, helping students and emerging professionals pursue architectural education, licensure, leadership development, and new opportunities within the profession.
Through Communities by Design, volunteer design professionals continued a nearly six-decade tradition of working alongside communities to address their most pressing challenges. The report looks closely at Bakersville, North Carolina, where more than 200 residents helped shape a community-led vision for recovery and resilience following Hurricane Helene.
At The Octagon, a major accessibility project opened the National Historic Landmark to visitors with limited mobility for the first time in its 227-year history, while more than $806,000 in competitive preservation grants supported the continued stewardship of the historic building and its collections.
But the numbers tell only part of the story.
The 2025 Impact Report follows scholars designing their futures, communities rebuilding together, volunteers lending their expertise, and supporters making each of these efforts possible.
