Daniel Hales

Daniel Hales’ journey toward architecture has been shaped by construction experience, service to others, and a growing awareness of how the built environment influences culture and community. Before pursuing formal architectural education, he worked in the construction industry on infrastructure and educational projects. Through this experience, he learned how design decisions impact surrounding communities. This inspired him to pursue architecture as a way to support communities with designs that respond thoughtfully to their needs.

Travel throughout Central America also significantly influenced his desire to pursue architecture. Witnessing the detrimental effects of globalization on local heritage motivated him to help preserve cultural identity through the built environment. By utilizing the principles of critical regional architecture, Daniel hopes to protect regional character from developments disconnected from context and history.

His passion for architecture also grew from ministerial work centered on serving others. One outreach program he participated in was dedicated to building beds for children in need. These experiences reinforced his belief that architecture can be used not only to create buildings, but also to strengthen communities. Together, his experiences in construction, service work, and cultural observation continue to shape his vision for architecture as a profession grounded in meaningful community impact.
