Gabriella Doe is a fourth-year McNeill Common Good Fellow at the University of Notre Dame pursuing a Bachelor of Architecture with a concentration in Preservation and Restoration, alongside a minor in Latino Studies. She is from Fort Worth, Texas, and takes great pride in her African American and Panamanian heritages. Gabriella is passionate about the impact of urban planning and human-centered architecture on local communities and its ability to serve as a reflection of a community’s history and cultural identity. Through her experience volunteering as an English, Spanish, and art teacher at Fundacion Sifais in La Carpio, Costa Rica, Gabriella has become particularly interested in the importance of sustainable and affordable architectural practices, especially in Black and Latino communities.

With a passion for inclusive architecture, Gabriella has engaged in projects related to dignified housing for underserved communities. During the summer of 2024 Gabriella participated in apartment setups for refugees and low-income families to better understand how interior design can be improved in settings with limited resources. Her time spent learning about dignified design for migrants prompted her to study the building typologies of temporary housing solutions for migrants in Germany. Gabriella is grateful to God for providing her with such opportunities and for the support from her family and Notre Dame community. Upon completing her degree, Gabriella intends to create affordable, environmentally-friendly, yet culturally-conscious community and residential architecture.
