Janki Shah is a Job Captain at HKS, Inc., specializing in the commercial and residential sectors. She is passionate about designing at various scales and their impact on the urban fabric. Janki holds a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University, a Master of Architecture from CEPT University, and a Bachelor of Architecture from APIED in India. She believes that designers are advocates for their communities and should continually strive for an equitable built environment. Seeing architecture as a collaborative endeavor, Janki values the input of every team member to enrich creative solutions. As a graduate of the Christopher Kelly Leadership Development Program (Class of 2022), she leads intern coordination, recruitment, and student outreach in the DC office, fostering mentorship and giving back to the community. Janki actively volunteers with multiple local organizations to deepen her understanding of the city and its people. Recently, she co-chaired the AIA Urban Design Committee, planning panels, tours, and discussions on key urban design topics. Outside of architecture, Janki enjoys exploring different landscapes, cultures, and cuisines, particularly in search of cute cafes. She is also a practicing runner, with a half marathon under her belt and many more to come.
