My name is Justin Chappell.
I am a Howard University Architectural Student and Brother Rice High School Graduate. I am an AIA Award Winner, as well as a NOMA (National Organization of Minority Architects) Member. I am also an ACE (Architecture Construction & Construction) Mentor Program winner, placing first and second in the South East Detroit Chapter in 2022 & 2023. I’ve also participated in ACE as a guest speaker and judge in the following years 2024 & 2025. I've worked for companies such as Albert Kahn Associates (2024) & WSP (2023) as an architectural intern.
Now currently classified as a Junior in college, I have taken my academic endeavors to Howard University. Previously in my time at Florida A&M University (2023-2025) I participated as an AIA E-Board as the Event Chair. I have also joined Florida's NOMA specific chapter, as well as a member of the Professional Development Program of the university. During High School I was an A honor roll student as well as participating in various activities including robotics, varsity track, Youth Action Boards, Black Student Union president, school tutor.
At a very early age I knew I wanted to be an Architect, and I knew I was driven to learn all that could about this profession. During my Middle School and High School years, I participated in anything that I could to learn more including the University of Cincinnati Minority Architects Summer Program, University of Texas San Antonio Summer Architecture Program and the University of Notre Dame Summer Architecture Program. In my free time, I enjoy working out, reading and spending time with friends. My future goals include earning my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Architecture, traveling the world and then I plan to become an Architect and one day own my own Architecture firm.
