Justin Chappell is a Howard University Architectural student and Brother Rice High School graduate. He is an AIA Award Winner, as well as a NOMA (National Organization of Minority Architects) member. He is also an ACE (Architecture, Construction & Engineering) Mentor Program winner, placing first and second in the Southeast Detroit Chapter in 2022 and 2023. He has also participated in ACE as a guest speaker and judge in 2024 and 2025. He has worked for companies such as Albert Kahn Associates (2024) and WSP (2023) as an architectural intern.
Now currently classified as a junior in college, he has taken his academic endeavors to Howard University. Previously, during his time at Florida A&M University (2023–2025), he participated as an AIA E-Board member as the Event Chair. He also joined Florida's NOMA-specific chapter, as well as the Professional Development Program of the university. During high school, he was an A Honor Roll student and participated in various activities, including robotics, varsity track, Youth Action Boards, Black Student Union president, and school tutor.
At a very early age, he knew he wanted to be an architect, and he knew he was driven to learn all that he could about this profession. During his middle school and high school years, he participated in anything that he could to learn more, including the University of Cincinnati Minority Architects Summer Program, University of Texas San Antonio Summer Architecture Program, and the University of Notre Dame Summer Architecture Program. In his free time, he enjoys working out, reading, and spending time with friends. His future goals include earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture, traveling the world, and then becoming an architect and one day owning his own architecture firm.
