Marcus McSheffrey

Marcus McSheffrey is an incoming student at the University of Notre Dame pursuing a B.Arch degree. Marcus was born and raised in Macau until the age of eleven, when he immigrated with his mother to the United States, settling in Irvine, California. Transitioning from living in one of the most dense urban environments in the world to a master-planned suburban community gave Marcus a unique perspective on how the built environment can produce vastly different opportunities and lifestyles. He enjoys exploring the contrast of urban environments in his life through creating detailed mixed-media artwork expressing architecture, which was recognized at the Irvine 2026 High School Art Exhibition with an award for use of materials. He is interested in a variety of subjects, having received Awards of Academic Excellence in Social Sciences and Math at his high school. Grounded in his Catholic faith, Marcus hopes to pursue Architecture for the common good, creating sustainable urban environments that expand opportunity for communities without sacrificing beauty for functionality.
